渋染と藍染

左端のみ藍、
他は楊梅と藍との重ね染めです。
江戸時代まで、庶民の色といえば藍が連想されますが、それと同じくらい渋染、楊梅染めがあったのではないかと想像しています。四十八茶百鼠の茶の多くは、この渋木、楊梅で染め分られていました。
ある地方では渋染のみ着用とのお触れ書きが出され、渋染一揆という事件があったそうです。


Only the left end is dyed with indigo.
The rest are layered dyeing with Yang-Pei and indigo.
Until the Edo period, indigo was associated with the colors of the common people, but I imagine that there were just as many Shibu-zome and Yang-bai dyeing techniques. Most of the 48-cha Hyakumoku teas were dyed with this shibu-zome and yang-ume dyeing method.
In some regions, there was an incident known as the Shibusome Putsch, in which a warning was issued that only Shibusome dyeing was to be worn.
